BeautyMNL Selects SNS for a Warehouse Assessment
(Melbourne) - July 2019 – SNS, a leading provider of supply chain consultancy and software implementation, today announced the successful completion of a warehouse assessment project with health and beauty e-tailer, Beauty MNL. Focused on an evaluation of existing infrastructure and processes, SNS consultants worked closely with the Philippines-based company to deliver a series of recommendations designed to boost capacity and underpin future growth.
Beauty MNL’s warehouse is 10,000 square meters with temperature controlled and ambient areas. Handling 30,000 SKUs, the retailer receives around 6,000 orders daily, typically comprised of three to four units, and must dispatch these within 24 hours in order to deliver against high service standards.
Recent years have seen business growth outpace process improvement, and as a result Beauty MNL needed to review its operations, in particular high order processing costs and processes. SNS was selected to lead the assessment project based on its in-depth expertise in warehouse design.
Following a series of on-site visits and workshops to gain an in-depth understanding of the company structure; warehouse infrastructure; product mix; order profiles; systems and customer service levels, as well as ascertaining the impact of future growth in these areas, SNS’ consultants created a framework of recommendations. These included the identification of bottlenecks and areas for improvement, which included an upgrade of the retailer’s WMS solution and linked handheld devices. Other critical areas included utilizing cluster picking, batch picking, and single unit order optimization, streamlining packing and sorting, and kicking-off an RFP process for route planning and BI solutions.
“In any warehouse operation, having the right processes and technology is crucial to efficiency, service levels and ultimately, growth. To achieve best practice, we recognized that we needed the skills and expertise to help us to identify key areas for improvement,” comments Jay Liwanag, Managing Director, Beauty MNL. “Throughout the project SNS’ consultants have been hugely impressive, using their extensive experience to suggest the best warehouse design, and creating a model for future growth, most notably the automation of some manual processes to boost productivity and optimize route planning. We are now looking forward to moving ahead with these recommendations and embracing the next chapter of our journey.”
